What is a Syndrome?
"In medicine and psychology, the term syndrome refers to the
association of several clinically recognizable features, signs (discovered by a
physician), symptoms (reported by the patient), phenomena or characteristics
that often occur together, so that the presence of one feature alerts the
physician to the presence of the others."
Symptom
CheckLists
With the Symptom Checklist you can rate your pain levels, fog, eyesight,
fatigue, gut, etc on a 1 to 10 scale. You can make a new record every day, or
once a week or whatever, and since it's filemaker you can export the data you
collect to a spreadsheet and make charts to monitor your progress. (The file
requires Filemaker to run. There isn't any password protection so feel
free to modify it to suit your needs.
If you already have Filemaker Pro, please download the first file. If you don't
have Filemaker Pro, download either the 2nd or 3rd file, choosing the one
appropriate for your platform. These last two files are large and may take 10 to
20 minutes to download on a standard 56K modem.

Centers for Disease Control & Prevention Chronic Fatigue Syndrom Symptoms
"Chronic fatigue syndrome can be misdiagnosed or overlooked
because its symptoms are common to other many disorders. Fatigue, for instance,
is found in hundreds of illnesses. The nature of the symptoms, however, can help
distinguish CFS from other illnesses."

Pain Scales
Personalizing A Pain Scale
Reminders for
taking meds/supps
(Feedback on any of these
very welcome)
Various Pill Timers
Example
:
The Cadex Medication Reminder Watch
The CADEX Medication Reminder takes the worry out of taking medications, so
you can spend your time enjoying the more important things in life.
Wendy's Mum's Tip:
-
Write on the lid of the bottle or packet when, or how many times per day, you
have to take the medication (e.g, "x3" or "AM/PM", and so on)
-
Keep them all together in a tray, with your added notes visible
-
Sort them into order of the first
medications of the day at the front, working your way towards the rear during
the day.
Wendy's Tip:
By preparing a chart in a spreadsheet on the computer, you can save it and make
alterations very quickly as needed.
You can print a separate page for each day.
You can see at a glance if something is due or has already been taken, and there
is no need to actually remember what time something has been taken to work out
when the next dose is due, because it is there in black and white if you need to
check.
-
Create a chart that fits onto a single page (Landscape orientation is probably
better than Portrait).
-
List all medications down the side, with the dose and the frequency of taking
them, one per row.
-
Add columns across the page for all the times you are to take your meds (upon
rising, before breakfast, with breakfast, etc), one column per time period.
-
Use border lines to mark all the columns and rows, so they are clear.
-
Shade the boxes for times that you don’t take a particular drug in grey, so
that you are left with a white space that matches a drug and time in the day
when it is to be taken.
-
When the drug has been dispensed, tick the relevant box, so it can be seen at
a glance if something is missing. Sometimes it is more useful to write
the actual time the drug is to be taken, rather than just ticking the box - it
all depends on the particular drug and your needs. For example, pain
relief may have be prescribed for four times a day, but if you begin to
recover from that particular symptom your need for it may be reduced and you
may skip a dose or two; writing the time means you know how long since the
last dose if you want more.

Information re
Medications Devin
Starlynal: "Often, you may have to try many medications before you find the
optimum ones for you. We react differently to each medication, and there is no
"cookbook recipe" for FMS or MPS. What works well for one of us can be
ineffective for another. A medication which puts one person to sleep may keep
another awake. Each of us has our unique combination of neurotransmitter
disruption and connective tissue disturbance. We need doctors who are willing to
stick with us until an acceptable symptom relief level is reached."

What is your Blood Pressure Target
Tests Explained
http://www.mydr.com.au/default.asp?article=3127
What are the acceptable blood pressure levels?
According to the Heart Foundation of Australia, blood
pressure less than 120/80 mmHg can be classified as ‘normal’ and blood pressure
between 120/80 and 140/90 mmHg is classified as ‘high-normal’ blood pressure.
According to the Heart Foundation, a person could be defined
as having high blood pressure (hypertension) if they have systolic pressure
greater than or equal to 140 mmHg and/or diastolic pressure greater than or
equal to 90 mmHg and/or are receiving medication for high blood pressure.
Low blood
pressure, or hypotension, generally refers to a blood pressure reading below an
average of about 120/80 mmHg.

Garlic boosts hydrogen sulfide to relax arteries
Eating garlic is one of the best ways to lower high blood pressure and protect
yourself from cardiovascular disease. A new study from the University of Alabama
at Birmingham (UAB) shows this protective effect is closely linked to how much
hydrogen sulfide (H2S) is produced from garlic compounds interacting with red
blood cells.
At-home Allergy pulse
test
Issue 8,
2004 Update: Food Allergies/Sensitivities and the Pulse Test:Withdrawal Reaction
Mechanisms, Overcoming Resistance, New Pulse Test Tips and Some Other Methods
by J. C. Waterhouse, Ph.D.
At-home short cut pulse test (originated decades ago by dr. Arthur coca) to
arrive at a diet that minimizes reactions. The short cut version of the test is
a controlled test, which if done correctly, is objective and often gives very
strong proof of the reaction:
I wrote
out these brief directions for myself which others might find them useful
(Tesa):
After resting for 5 minutes
take your pulse 2 or 3 times to get a baseline
place the substance under your tongue
take your pulse again after 1 or 2 minutes and then spit
the food out.
The pulse should not change unless there is a reaction
if the pulse increases, the amount of increase indicates
the severity of the reaction.
If any food raises the resting pulse over 12 beats per
minute above your morning resting pulse, that food should be
eliminated; you are certainly allergic to it or can't digest that much of it. If
your pulse has not returned to its morning resting rate one hour later, you are
still having an allergic reaction to the food you ate previously and cannot get
a decent result on another food until either your pulse slows again or until the
next morning. You may, however, continue to eat other foods that you know do not
provoke allergic reactions.
If a food causes no acceleration of pulse (at least 6 beats above your
estimated normal maximal) that food can be tentatively labeled
non-allergenic.
