April 10, 2004: The time for the protest has passed.
There may be other things that arise in the future that we can do but for now this issue is closed.  The history of
the official Guai-Support Group Network Protest Strategies can be found by clicking here.

If anyone needs help with any of the options below please click here to access one of our protest team by email.  This window will remain open for reference.

FDA is seeking 2003D-0478; Draft Guidance on Marketed Unapproved Drugs Compliance Policy Guide; Availability 10/20/03 12/22/03)   Click here to access the draft Compliance Policy Guide.

The GG Protest Team encourages you to participate in our protest  measures outlined below,  in addition to anything you may choose to do independently.

I wish to acknowledge and thank Kathy Shuller for her indefatigable pursuit of the 'facts' in relation to the FDA guaifenesin issue.  Her research and networking efforts were invaluable in gaining the information and support necessary for the GG protest strategies to be developed.  I also acknowledge the contributions of those who prefer to remain anonymous but sent information, provided input and gave their support to our efforts.

THE OFFICIAL GUAI-SUPPORT RESPONSE TO FDA
(Our posted date: December 2  2003)
We hope that many people (worldwide) will download our official letter and send it to FDA themselves.  The more people who do this, the more mail FDA will get, thus the more impact it will have.  E-mailing the letter to FDA is not possible at this time.  SNAIL MAIL it as time for a response is up December 22, 2003.  (IF the FDA site becomes able to accept a file attachment before Dec 22, 2003, those of us who have already sent a [signed] copy of our official letter, can join in a MASS E-MAIL to them with a notation that this is a follow up copy of a hard copy letter sent to them by mail.)

Please read all the strategies before accessing the 'step by step' information.

FDA COMMENTS SITE
(Draft Guidance on Marketed Unapproved Drugs Compliance Policy Guide; Availability 10/20/03 12/22/03)
To make online comments to the Compliance Guide click here, fill in the details requested, select 'continue' and type in your comment (up to 4000 characters).  If you wish, you may copy/paste excerpts from our official response.

PERSONAL LETTER TO FDA
Members who wish to write a letter to FDA on their own (and their family's behalf) either in addition to, or instead of, sending our's, or making a comment on FDA site, may like to harvest/cannibalize our 'official' response to FDA letter to use in their own composition and to sign off in the style above.
(A gentle suggestion from us: letters to official bodies are always given more credence if the content is calm, to the point and with  respect.)

LETTERS TO CONGRESSIONAL REPRESENTATIVES
This is also covered in the:
Step by Step guidelines for participating in the protest to the FDA
Some people have sought a template letter to help them so we've put one up on the site.  Please edit to suit yourself.

PETITION
A petition is with our lawyer at the moment.  You will be informed when it is ready for you to access.  We suggest that everyone sign it no matter what country you live in.

MSNBC REQUEST PUBLIC INPUT ON STORIES TO COVER
Excerpt "...would like to know what questions you have about the stories in the news. What issues are you thinking about? What is it that concerns you and what do you want answered? In other words, we want you to tell us what's ON YOUR MIND?"

This would be a good avenue to get your gripes out to the public about the loss of LA Guai. The more MSNBC hears from individuals the more likely they are to follow up on it.  We (GG Protest Team, through Kathy Shuller, Representative/Researcher) are working on involving INDUSTRY in this and need mail volume, from those it affects, to aid us.  Please click here.

FRONTLINE
The PBS is an independent non-government-supported USA TV station that will carry what other stations do not dare to touch.  Frontline is an expose type newscast.  When they addressed the dangerous drugs the FDA approves, they did NOT address the perfectly safe ones they are yanking off the market.

We need to get their attention.

You can join in the discussion by
clicking here, scroll to the very bottom of the page and click on the 'discussion' link,  next click on the phrase +SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS and insert your response in the section provided.

Click here to see a a copy of Kathy Shuller's JOIN THE DISCUSSION post.  Unfortunately Kathy's message was declined:  "Frontline declined to publish my response!!! Once again a deaf ear was turned. I disagreed with their side. Or rather they did not want to hear the other rational side of the issue. All unapproved drugs are NOT dangerous but that does not sell advertising."  (Kathy Shuller, GG archives, 19 Nov 2003, Subject GUAI Frontline website)
