Guai Treatment
Troubleshooter

If you suspect you are having a
problem this information should assist you in identifying your problem. We
recommend that you follow these steps in the order provided. Problems are
listed in order of the most common to the least common. This list is not
meant to be all inclusive. For a more complete explanation of the
protocol, please see the
Basic Treatment Instructions .

Things to consider in general:
- Make sure you store your guaifenesin
properly.
If you find that you
haven't, buy a new supply.
- Make sure your prescription has not expired
Check
with your pharmacist for the medication expiration date.
- Drink 8 oz of water with your LA (long acting) tablet
Water is required for the tablet to dissolve properly.
- Check for Lactose
If you are lactose intolerant and
your brand has lactose, change brands. Ask your pharmacist for inactive
ingredients.
- Do not drink fruit juice when taking your guai

- Guai dosage titration
Check for proper dose titration, ensuring that you are on a cycling dose and that your dose is not too high
or low. Basic
Treatment Instructions
- Salicylates
- Check for salicylates.
Sal Search Tips
- Do a blocking test.
- Get mapped.
Without mapping, at least the left thigh,
it's impossible to give any guarantee whether a dose is too low or high, or
if one is blocking.
- Hypoglycemia
You will not feel better if you are hypoglycemic until your hypoglycemia is
under control.
- Check to see if you may have
hypoglycemia
- If you need it, follow the
hypoglycemic
diet
After checking to ensure protocol compliance,
consider brand or type of guai.

- Break your LA (long acting) tablet into several pieces
- Crush your LA (long acting) tablet and put it into a
capsule
If
you find that you do better with this, consider trying QA (quick acting)
- Try a new batch of the same brand
- Try a different brand
- Try QA (quick acting) guai
