When I started quai in May of 2002 I mentioned it to my chiropracter here in Leduc. He was quite interested and borrowed my copy of "the book" to read. He could see that I was making progress and feeling better and was very keen to know more, so I bought a copy of the mapping video and loaned it to him. He viewed it and then did a trial map on me. It was very similar to the one I had done by Dr. Ceaser just days before, so it seems that he has the idea of what to look for. He has been doing trigger point therapy on me, which helps a lot more than the usual 'crack em' kind of treatment for me. He has agreed to allow his name to be added to your list of mappers as well.

I have been very pleased with Fred. He is learning as he is treating
me. I gave him the mapping tape in November (have not been mapped since) and hope is techniques will improve even more. He is a craniosacral PT   I am the only person on the protocol (he dx'd me) that he treats that is having success with guai as we believe the others don't maintain a sal-free lifestyle!

He is a naturopathic doctor who learned of the guai protocol from a patient who gave him Dr. St. Amand's book. He has about 20-25 FM patients and is quite knowledgeable in the guai protocol as well as other medical issues/vitamins/supplements etc.  He seems to me to be a very qualified mapper and is supportive of the protocol.

I am recommended on Dr. St AMAND`s list as specialist of FMS using, already since years, the Guaifenesin protocol with the mapping.  I am the only doctor listed in Israel. I am, as well, the only doctor in Israel known to use the Guaifenesin, with a lot of success and a great reputation. You will find in my web site (in 3 languages, English, French and Hebrew) more about my biography.

Lydia Molloy comments: I am submitting my own name - I am a C.M.T. - I have Fibromyalgia for over 30 years - have studied every book on FM until I stumbled on Dr St Armand's papers and became acquainted with the Guaifenesin protocol - I have studied his book, videos and have even taught a class of Massage Therapists the mapping procedure - I regularly map a number of people - and have become very familiar with the subtle and not so subtle variations in the feel and texture of phosphate lesions and swellings in a person with FM. I use only plant free massage cream and specialize in the support of people going through this reversal.

Comments:  I would like to offer my services as a mapper and massage therapist.  I was diagnosed with FMS in Jan. 2000, took Guai from May 2000 (or 2001, can't remember) to Nov 2001 when I stopped to be treated by a Vietnamese Doctor for a very bad bronchial flu. (The first thing he did was to put a menthol patch on my chest, and I thought "That's the end of Guai for a while".)  I went to see Dr. St. Amand with one of his patients to refine my mapping abilities (I have his mapping video) and have just figured out how to post to the site.  I've mapped a few people and feeling confident in my abilities, want to offer mapping to more people.  I have a special rate for those of you from this list who want both mapping and massage. Of course either is available as well.

She's watched the video numerous times & has been mapping another guaier & me for about a year. She's confident at this point that she's doing it correctly, and has an interest in filling this need in CT for a reliable mapper. She comes to my house to do the mapping and doesn't ask for a cent, although I always give her $20.00 as a token of my appreciation. He's also a great M.T. and a kind person who really cares how his patients are.  He's been doing mapping since learning "how" in the fall of 2001.  He has viewed the tape and also read many emails (from Tesa & Dr St A.) describing what the lumps we're looking for feel like like and I feel confident in his mapping.

He also has a website: http//www.frognet.net/~naturalremedies/ but he hasn't yet added that he will do mapping to the site & it mostly lists prices for the different services they offer.

She states that over half of her clientele has FMS. She has reviewed the tapes and is going to purchase the book. She has started mapping several people in this area and anticipates more as she is spreading the word on the protocol. More than 50% of her clients have FMS. Several are on guai. Ask to speak directly to Phyllis as the folks who answer the phone work for the club and are not knowledgeable about FMS/Mapping etc. If Phyllis is in the middle of a massage or it is her day off you can leave your number and she will return your call.

Don is a chiropractor and former RN. He was willing to learn how to map me, and has watched the video. I think he does a good job, I have been mapped twice by him so far. He is at Canyon Road Chiropractic and Massage. He is very interested in this protocol, which was new to him when I first approached him about mapping, and wants to watch my progress.

Sharon is a Licensed massage Therapist, also certified in yoga therapy.  She is an Excellent masseuse, and is quite a comfortable and pleasant person to be around. She seems very knowledgeable about what is usual, and unusual in the tissues, and I believe is going to be an excellent mapper.  We are learning this together.  She has watched the tapes and is excited about helping us with this protocol.  She is aware that we cannot use oils with Sals and has no problem using what ever we bring her.

Amy, a certified massage therapist is learning to map, with one patient, namely myself. She is working from Dr. St. A's map of me as a base map, and trying to find the lesions that he found. We've done this together three times so far. So, she's no expert, but she's trying to learn.

Dr. Calfee has been mapping me since July of 2000. He has read parts of Dr. St. Amand's book and has seen the mapping video. He is an excellent mapper and chiropractor and is aware of many of the problems associated with the protocol, however, he is not immersed in the dosing and sal aspects of the protocol. I highly recommend him for mapping. Feel free to e-mail me if you have any questions or concerns.

I have been seeing him for about four months now and he has me on the protocol. He has the video and is mapping me. Apparently, he has spoken with Dr. St. Amand about the protocol. I am his first really serious patient on this medication so we are kind of learning together. He treats a number of FM'ers. I know that he is interested in treating others with Guaifenesin but it does take a certain level of commitment. Two previous patients did not follow through. He takes the time to talk with me at each visit and does have experience with being able to feel for lumps and bumps since he is a licensed acupuncturist and also does a form of pain therapy called Prylotherapy. His specialty is chronic pain management through a variety of methods - not all of them dealing with drugs. He was careful to go over my medical history to rule out other illnesses and injuries that could mimic FM and he keeps good notes of our visits.

Maureen specializes in myofascial release, Hellerwork, and Shiatsu. She has lots of experience with FMS, but is new to the protocol and is excited about it. She has watched the tape and "got it" right away; her style is similar to Dr. St. A's. I see her for Hellerwork (she uses Lanolin) which has improved my posture dramatically.

Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue & Irritable Bowel: Treating Symptoms Treating Cause

By Dr Gregory K. Penniston
(The re-titled new edition to
The Guaifenesin Guide)

A unique book that gives sufferers and their families clear explanations and practical information on every type of treatment for these distressing and hard to manage disorders. It dispels the misconceptions, that lead some people to dismiss these conditions, with thoughtful explanations and reasoning. This book gives emphasis to eliminating the conditions by addressing their 'cause', with a commonly used 'over-the-counter' medication, guaifenesin and provides detailed, easy-to-follow guidelines.

Parting the Fog: The Personal Side of Fibromyalgia/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

By Sue Jones, a GG Member

Parting the Fog" is a candid, first person account of what it is like to walk in the shoes of someone suffering from fibromyalgia/chronic fatigue syndrome. It relays the seriousness of this condition in an easy-to-read manner, while employing humor and focusing on hope.

Crack Up at the Wake of Dawn: Everyday Poetry to Incite and Delight Your Soul

Another great Book from our GG Member Sue Jones!  If you are a fan of "Parting the Fog", you won't want to miss this book. Although it isn't specific to fibro, you WILL find chapters you can closely relate to, since many topics are dealt with. Some of the poems may make you cry, others make you laugh, and still others trigger a thought or give you greater insight. Whichever the case, you won't be left unaffected.
