I have been informed by a GG member that Dr. Schloeffel does phone consultations.  You need to first write him a letter telling him information about yourself and your telephone number. and that you are requesting a phone consult and his office will get back to you to arrange a time etc.

I am still using Guai, and happy to see people who want to try it.

I am also experimenting with DR Trevor Marshall’s program in some FM sufferers.

Comments : David has a background in physiotherapy and naturopathy as well being a GP. He sees a lot of Fibro patients and knows about the guai protocol and can map patients. He is very helpful and knowledgeable on vitamens, etc.

Anonymous February 16, 2003: I called Dr. Bensler's office on Thursday (he is listed as a MD from Calgary on your site) to ask about his method of treating patients with fibromyalgia. His office person told me that he had been quoted somewhere in connection with fibromyalgia but that he really doesn't treat fm patients.

I am recommended on Dr. St AMAND`s list as specialist of FMS using, already since years, the Guaifenesin protocol with the mapping.  I am the only doctor listed in Israel. I am, as well, the only doctor in Israel known to use the Guaifenesin, with a lot of success and a great reputation. You will find in my web site (in 3 languages, English, French and Hebrew) more about my biography.

Dr. Penniston is a Chiropractor and did give me permission to submit his name. He himself has fibro. He has the guai available in his office. He and his staff are very supportive of the protocol and have recently started a support group. They are familiar with the book and understand the protocol. He does do mappings.

I was very comfortable with him and his office staff. They were personable and took their time with me. My husband was welcome to join me. They took down my insurance info. and were very happy to work with me in that area. I highly recommend this office for our needs. With her permission you may contact his office staff  or myself.  Thank you.

Dr. Greif gave permission to put his name on the list will rx the Guai AND be supportive.   He has had good success with patients on the protocol.   He understands the protocol including salicylates.  I don't think he does mapping.  Dr. Greif is very intelligent and competent.  He understands glucose metabolism and the guai protocol and is among the best of the many doctors I have seen here in the Antelope Valley.  He was the first to diagnose me, when the experts at UCLA couldn't. Pat Gurnick gave permission to list her name.
She is very knowledgeable on the guai protocol and also personally consults directly with Dr. St. Amand and Claudia.

She does not provide mapping services, however she does have Dr. St. Amand's mapping DVD, which she explains very well to clients, while assisting them in locating professionals who are able to do so.

Pat is a very approachable, warm, and compassionate person. She works tirelessly to help her clients access a myriad of complementing professional services, workshops, conventions, seminars, appropriate and reliable web sites and associations, peer and community support networks.

Pat provides services based on an individual basis. Moreover, she has been known to meet with her clients who are too sick to leave their home. In addition, she offers phone therapy when all other means of therapy are not possible. Finally, aside from being very accessible, she provides prompt and thorough follow-up services.

Pat has followed the guai protocol for years, and maintains strict compliance with the protocol as both a patient and colleague of Dr. St. Amand's.  It is my opinion that not only would she be a safe and reliable consultant, but also, clients and non-clients alike, stand to benefit from her warmth, compassion, and extensive insight into the recovery process. As a therapist who has experienced the vast breadth of consequences brought upon by severe, and chronic disability, Pat managed not only to overcome her illness, but selflessly continues to work passionately to serve her clients and the local community as a leader, advocate, and friend to all.

This clinic has MDs, chiropractors and massage therapists. Drs. Macon and Laube (MDs) will both prescribe guai for FMS & there is a massage therapist, Paul, at the clinic who will map you. While the MDs don't have a full understanding of the protocol, Dr. Kruzel (chiropractor) does, including salicylates.  They will not condescend to you. They know that guai works.  Relevant insurance details: They will file for you.  I have been a patient there since before I started guai in Sept. 1998. They have been very receptive to everything I have given them about guai and understand what I am talking about regarding cycles and salicylates.

I feel comfortable with her. She was very interested in learning about guaifenesin and the mapping process. Her comments after doing my mapping was that this type of "touch" work (looking for the phosphate build ups) is natural for chiropractors because they have to learn to distinguish between normal and abnormal muscle tissue. Submitted November 24, 1999; Contact:  Sandy

Report from another patient states that Karen didn't do a complete or accurate map.  She apparently knows how to feel for the lumps, but does not completely check the entire patient, and does not record the lumps as she goes

He will RX the Guai & be supportive. I'm his first patient on Guai. I'm comfortable with him. He's great! He treats other FM patients and when I came in with the info on guai, he was really willing to have me try it and see how it goes. I'm his first patient on guai, but I get the feeling that with my positive results, he'll soon be offering it as a possibility for other patients.....

I first saw her because of my vulvodynia, and I presented the Guai information to her. She prescribed me two year's worth on the spot! She is very nice, and very knowledgeable (not about Guai, but everything else)! It might take a while to get an appt. with her though. As a returning patient, I have to schedule 6 months in advance.  She didn't   know about the guai protocol before me, so she won't be able to answer questions or map you. But she can provide good support, interest, and an Rx!!

I've been seeing her for about a year now, and she is very kind, sweet, caring, knowledgeable, and always gives you as much time as you need. Another neat thing about their office is they are always on time and try very hard not to make their patients wait in the waiting room. I have not asked her to prescribe Guai for me, but I have told her all about the protocol and she would prescribe it if I wanted her to.  She didn't   know about the guai protocol before me, so she won't be able to answer questions or map you. But she can provide good support, interest, and an Rx!!

He is a great doc and I have been seeing him for 3 years now. He is new to this and does not do the mapping but is open minded and is willing to rx guia once he is comfortable with your history. He just wants to know what you have been tested for and all other things besides FM have been ruled out if you haven't been dx'd with fibro yet. He is a very trendy guy who likes to keep his knowledge on theings on the up and up. He won't do something that could hurt you but likes to experiment with things. I also have very bad asthma and we went through many different treatments until he found the solution and now I am virtually asthma attack free.

Dr. Barbour is a practioner of manual medicine which is a very hands on approach to pain. He also employs massage therapists in his practice and many insurance companies will pay for this since it is under the direction of a doctor. He is a wonderful, compassionate human being. He will work with you to relieve the pain. I saw him for sevral years before I found guai. I brought it to him and he was enthusiastic. He has tried several other patients on the protocol. While he does not do mapping as outlined by Dr. St. Armand he does practice manual medicine- so he will be aware of any changes that occur in the muscle tissues etc. in your body.  He's supportive,  he understand the protocol & he does the mapping

Currently, Dr. St. Amand is prescribing my guai. since I saw him April of '97. However, Dr. Tegeler told me he would prescribe it for me when my prescription runs out. Since I have vulvodynia too he has been through a lot with me and says he will try whatever things I have researched and want to try. He doesn't know a lot about the guai. but is willing to test it with me. He told me he would read up on the guai. protocol. I took him some info. and hope he did. He seems pretty unfamiliar with it though.  I feel comfortable with him. I have been seeing him for about 14 years. He is very knowledgeable and willing to try new things. He doesn't do the mapping.
He doesn't seem to know a lot about it but is kind of considering me his "test" patient. If it works for me, I think he would suggest and prescribe it for others.

Told her how well it's working, gave her copies of basic-treatment, sta-fma, sta-scientific, and guai-sources, the web site address, told her again how well it's working, etc. She was grinning. (She's nice, but not cheery - grinning is major) She is going to talk to some other FM patients of hers, and suggest guai. She wrote a RX for 540 for me to send to Unicare (cheaper than my co-pay). She asked if I knew whether or not I could keep taking it while I'm pregnant (cuz I'm trying).  She asked because it seemed a shame to her for me to have to stop!  It doesn't get better than this unless you see Dr. St. A!"

It has been with me for over 20 years.  I am getting some relief with the Guai and also going for myofascial release therapy one to two times a week.  He did not map me for all the points. He did do a hands on though that clearly had showed my bad areas."

He takes blue cross blue shield insurance. I knew my niece had fibro but was not getting a proper diagnosis so I took her to him and he diagnosed her fibro and gave her a print out on the guai protocol and recommends that people join our guai group. In his print out he says he does mapping but that it might be cheaper to go to a massage therapist. He may know of some therapists or you may want to try him. My sister recently started seeing him and he helped her a lot already. Changed her thyroid to Armour (she says BIG DIFFERENCE) and figured out her chest pain and gave her excercises which have helped tremendously for the chest pain!

He believes in both traditional medicine and alternative medicine. He will RX Guai, does mapping, understands the protocol and he will be supportive. He believes doctor and patient should work as a team. He was taught by Dr. St. Amand.  He makes you feel very comfortable. He is a gentle, caring person who even has a sense of humor. I drive 200 miles to see him and it's well worth the trip.

Submitted by Louella Kelly November 13, 1999.

He [Dr. Levy - see above entry] does prescribe the guai just doesn't understand the protocol thus continues to increase your guai each visit even though you feel bad and doesn't understand why you aren't feeling great by the third visit.  A new person to the protocol will end up going way above their cycling dosage with him and go thru a lot more pain than necessary. He kept insisting I had to raise the dosage to get to feeling better but I knew I needed to lower it to get some relief and have cycles. It is all a learning experience, but for a new person to guai it can be discouraging.  To expect someone to feel so much better in that short of a time frame, we know doesn't always happen.  It takes time.

I believe he doesn't really follow the Guai Protocol closely. When I first went to see him he asked me to get the book "What your Doctor may not tell you about Fibromyalgia" and told me to start taking 500 mg Magnesium every day. I told him I have Hashimoto's disease and am Hypothyroid so he had some blood drawn to check where I was with my Thyroid. When I came back he tested me using the pressure points and said I didn't really register for 11 of the 18, but that didn't really matter and he gave me a rx for Guai. I pretty much feel on my own with it. He doesn't know of anyone who maps and doesn't seem to see the importance. On the good side, though, I really feel he listens to me and is open to suggestions. I asked what kind of success he's had with his patients on Guai. He said it helps about 50% of his patients (mostly men). Later I thought that made sense maybe, because men use very few cosmetics...things that might block them. Just a guess. Anyway, I'm going to continue to see him and have ordered the tape to see if my Chiropractor will learn the mapping. He's been kind of difficult to convince, though, but I'll keep trying. I've called all the other doctors listed for Utah that prescribe Guai to see if they know of anyone who does mapping. No luck so far.

We'll stay at 1200mg SR then try increasing if it seems reasonable.  He stated if the "previous doctor" was concerned about "liver toxicity" he would have to do liver test.  We will try Guai 3 months. FMS Doctors:  You no longer need a prescription for Guaifenesin of any strength but if you still want to find a doctor and if there is no doctor close enough in these registries you might like to try the CFS/FM Doc list:   http://www.co-cure.org/Good-Doc.htm

Or write to: Masaathoff@aol.com (Relate the State and City you live in and those you will travel to.) Although the doctors from the latter 2 sources may or may not know about Guaifenesin for FMS/CFS - you might consider asking them, and if they're open to it & sending them information regarding the Guai protocol.
